Dac\u0103 descalific\u0103m de pe podium agricultura, care literalmente ne hr\u0103ne\u0219te trupurile, r\u0103m\u00e2nem \u00eentr-adev\u0103r cu hrana pentru minte \u0219i suflet, iar \u00een acest sector f\u0103r\u0103 \u00eendoial\u0103 c\u0103 tiparul s-a dovedit cea mai \u00eendestul\u0103toare inven\u021bie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Setea de lectur\u0103, nu foarte mare \u00een vechime, era potolit\u0103 p\u00e2n\u0103 la inven\u021bia tiparului de m\u00e2na scribului din templu, iar mai apoi, de cea a copistului din m\u0103n\u0103stire. Copierea manuscriselor era un proces greoi \u0219i \u00eendelungat, redactarea unui manuscris frumos ornat put\u00e2nd dura \u0219i mai mult de un an. Acest sistem de produc\u021bie a c\u0103r\u021bii era, se pare, arhisuficient pentru nevoile de lectur\u0103 ale omului pre-modern, cunosc\u0103tor al literelor doar dac\u0103 era cleric sau func\u021bionar (iar \u00een vremurile Evului Mediu cei doi erau adesea una \u0219i aceea\u0219i persoan\u0103). \u00cens\u0103 odat\u0103 cu dezvoltarea vie\u021bii urbane (mai ales \u00een secolele XIII-XV), apari\u021bia universit\u0103\u021bilor \u0219i emergen\u021ba burgheziei, cartea manuscris\u0103 \u00eencepe s\u0103 nu mai poat\u0103 satisface foamea tot mai acut\u0103 pentru lectur\u0103 pe care \u00eencepe s\u0103 o resimt\u0103 societatea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00cen acest context, au \u00eenceput s\u0103 fie c\u0103utate solu\u021bii la penuria de carte, mai \u00eent\u00e2i prin instituirea unei specializ\u0103ri tot mai riguroase a muncii de editare (ateliere diferite pentru caligrafie, miniatur\u0103, leg\u0103torie), apoi prin a\u0219a numitul sistem <em>pecia<\/em>, prin care universit\u0103\u021bile ofereau studen\u021bilor pentru copiere exemplare verificate ale operelor din colec\u021biile lor, \u00eens\u0103 nu \u00een \u00eentregime, ci pe sec\u021biuni, astfel \u00eenc\u00e2t acela\u0219i titlu ajungea s\u0103 fie copiat \u00een mai multe ateliere simultan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nici aceste practici nu s-au dovedit suficiente \u00een cele din urm\u0103, a\u0219a c\u0103 \u00een primele decenii ale secolului al XV-lea au \u00eenceput s\u0103 fie c\u0103utate solu\u021bii tehnologice la problema reproducerii manuale, greoaie a textului scris. Johannes Gutenberg este creditat adesea cu inventarea tiparului, \u00eens\u0103 \u00een epoc\u0103 sunt cunoscute \u0219i alte tentative de a mecaniza arta scrisului. De pild\u0103, un anume Procopius Waldvogel din Praga, \u00eencheie ni\u0219te aranjamente cu cet\u0103\u021benii din Avignon, \u00eentre 1444 \u0219i 1446, prin care se angajeaz\u0103 s\u0103-i \u00eenve\u021be pe ace\u0219tia arta &#8216;scrierii artificiale&#8217; (<em>ars artificialiter scribendi<\/em>). Apoi, dac\u0103 e s\u0103 fim scrupulo\u0219i, tiparul cu litere mobile fusese deja inventat \u00een China, cu c\u00e2teva secole \u00eenainte ca Gutenberg s\u0103 produc\u0103 faimoasa sa Biblie de la Mainz (\u00een 1454 sau 1455), dar num\u0103rul mare de caractere ale scrierii ideografice chineze\u0219ti a f\u0103cut ca inven\u021bia s\u0103 fie realmente nepractic\u0103 pentru produc\u021bia de carte. C\u0103 a fost sau nu adev\u0103ratul inventator al tiparului, lui Gutenberg \u00eei revine totu\u0219i meritul de a fi fost primul care a organizat \u0219i condus prima antrepriz\u0103 tipografic\u0103 din Europa, un model replicat apoi pe tot continentul de numero\u0219i al\u021bi me\u0219teri tipografi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cum se tip\u0103rea?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pentru noi, ast\u0103zi, este greu de realizat c\u00e2t de mult a revolu\u021bionat tiparul produc\u021bia de carte. Dezobi\u0219nui\u021bi complet de la a mai scrie de m\u00e2n\u0103 pe de-o parte, dar acomoda\u021bi total cu tastatul semnelor pe telefoanele \u0219i laptopurile noastre, ne imagin\u0103m, poate, c\u0103 primele tiparni\u021be nu erau dec\u00e2t un soi de imprimante mai mari \u0219i mai primitive, ac\u021bionate nu de electricitate, ci de for\u021ba uman\u0103.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Presa tipografic\u0103 este citat\u0103 adesea ca inova\u021bia principal\u0103 a lui Gutenberg, \u00eens\u0103 din punct de vedere tehnic, aceasta nu e cu mult diferit\u0103 de presele contemporane, folosite la stoarcerea strugurilor, de pild\u0103. Un me\u0219ter priceput la prelucrarea metalelor, de preferin\u021b\u0103 bijutier sau \u0219tan\u021bator, confec\u021biona un poanson cu fiecare semn tipografic (litere, cifre, punctua\u021bie, etc.) \u00een relief. Acest poanson, aplicat pe un metal moale crea o matri\u021b\u0103 \u00een negativ a semnelor, iar prin turnarea unui aliaj de plumb, antimoniu \u0219i staniu \u00een matri\u021ba astfel creat\u0103, se realizau literele individuale. Setul de caractere ob\u021binut \u00een aceast\u0103 manier\u0103 poart\u0103 \u00een englez\u0103 numele de <em>font<\/em> \u2013 cuv\u00e2nt pe care \u00eel \u00eentrebuin\u021b\u0103m \u0219i noi ast\u0103zi pentru forma literei tastat\u0103 la calculator \u2013 \u0219i care vine din latinescul <em>fondere<\/em>, care \u00eenseamn\u0103 a turna, care \u00een rom\u00e2n\u0103 a dat mai pu\u021bin utilizatul ast\u0103zi <em>fonderie<\/em>, anume turn\u0103torie, topitorie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caracterele astfel ob\u021binute ajungeau \u00een <em>cas\u0103<\/em>, o cutie dreptunghiular\u0103 cu 143 de desp\u0103r\u021bituri<a href=\"https:\/\/blogbjc.bjc.ro\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=2165&amp;action=edit#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> pentru litere, semne de punctua\u021bie, ligaturi. \u00cen casa de jos, cea mai apropiat\u0103 de lucr\u0103tor se puneau literele minuscule, \u00een cea de sus, mai pu\u021bin accesibil\u0103 (dar \u0219i mai pu\u021bin \u00eentrebuin\u021bat\u0103) se puneau literele mari sau capitale. Ast\u0103zi, \u00een limba englez\u0103, sintagmele <em>upper case<\/em> \u0219i <em>lower case<\/em> folosite la redactarea cu caractere majuscule \u0219i minuscule fac referire distant\u0103 la aceast\u0103 amplasare a literelor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Textul care ajungea \u00een cele din urm\u0103 pe pagin\u0103 se culegea \u00eentr-un culegar. &#8222;A culege, \u2013 ne spune George Ionescu la 1906 \u00een <em>C\u0103l\u0103uza tipografului<\/em> \u2013 va s\u0103 zic\u0103 a adun\u00e0 literele \u00een culegar una c\u00e2te una, form\u00e2nd cuvinte, r\u00e2nduri, pagini.&#8221; Ceea ce ie\u0219ea \u00een urma opera\u021biunii era o parte din textul final, a\u0219ezat nu \u00een direc\u021bia normal\u0103 de citire, ci \u00een oglind\u0103. P\u00e2n\u0103 la jum\u0103tatea secolului al XIX-lea, nici tehnologia producerii h\u00e2rtiei \u0219i nici cea a tiparului nu a suferit \u00eembun\u0103t\u0103\u021biri semnificative. Dac\u0103 ne uit\u0103m la cifre, pare c\u0103 nici nu a fost nevoie. Lucien Febvre \u0219i Henri-Jean Martin estimeaz\u0103 c\u0103 \u00eentre 1450 \u0219i 1500 au fost tip\u0103rite 20 de milioane de c\u0103r\u021bi. Probabil cu mult mai multe dec\u00e2t produseser\u0103 europenii \u00eenainte de anul 1450, \u00een cei 1000 de ani de la adoptarea <em>codex<\/em>-ului (cartea \u00een forma pe care o cunoa\u0219tem \u0219i noi ast\u0103zi).
